I provide online counseling sessions using MS Teams.
Our families in which we grow up are our first social environment; consequently, they are powerful in how they shape our behavior. There is nothing like a romantic relationship to put us in touch with the attachment wounds, negative patterns, or roles familiar in our development. In fact, Imago theory posits that we will actually choose a mate that is exquisitely designed to push our buttons! The idea of course, is to propel us to grow and change. Often, however, I find that this is the gridlock in which couples find themselves when they present to therapy.
My expertise comes into play in holding the space for clients to examine themselves and their relationships in such a way as to enlarge their view and their capacity for change. My experience, education, and intuition allow me a razor sharp focus to see and interrupt negative patterns of interaction and collaboratively move them in a more healthful direction.
I work with couples, individuals and families regarding conflict/management of differences, intimacy, sexuality, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, parenting and pre-marital. My modalities include Imago therapy, family therapy, Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy, psychodynamic, EMDR, cognitive behavioral, mindfulness, and differentiation approaches to therapy. My style is both interactive and directive using systemic therapy, family of origin, psycho-educational, experiential and dynamic theories to access strengths and change negative patterns.
With over 34 years in the field, I have dialed in my work with couples to achieve an amazing success rate. Over these years, numerous couples have presented to me on the brink of divorce and/or where their partner was having an affair. I have helped these couples turn their relationship around 180 degrees to achieve a level of intimacy they had never before experienced in their lives much less thought possible with their current partner! What happens neurologically for the individuals within the couple can also make or break the intimacy bond they are trying to attain. Identifying how one gets neurologically triggered in their relationship and developing ways to calm themselves can be key to success in a relationship. So if you are experiencing an affair, arguments, difficulty communicating or just plain want a closer, more vibrant relationship, we should meet!
